James Arthur Yarber, 89, passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Western Kentucky Veterans Center. He was born on December 10, 1934, in Saline County, Illinois to the late James L. and Nellie (Hamilton) Yarber. James served in the US Marine Corp from October 1953 to October 1973. He was very proud of his service and the ability it gave his family to travel and live in different places. He retired from Gibbs Die Casting. James loved hunting and fishing with his brothers, Charlie and Don. He enjoyed bowling, playing Bingo, senior dances at the Senior Center in Morganfield, cooking, cake decorating, and spending time in his garage and outside. He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children and dear friend, Phyllis Yarber; son, Andy Yarber; and daughter, Nancy Rowley. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Amy Rutko (Jim); grandchildren, Jared Shake, and Jordan Rutko (Bri); great grandchildren, Jasey Lynn Rutko and Jasper Rutko; sister, Gertie Pittman; brother, Don Yarber; sister, Reba Rodgers; and many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to the staff of the Grant Unit at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center for their wonderful care. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, January 26, 2024, at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road, with entombment in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Western Kentucky Veteran Center – Activities Department in Hanson, Kentucky.
