Herman Robert Moore, Jr., was born June 15, 1950, to proud parents Mary A. Mayes Moore, and Herman Robert Moore, Sr. They called him, Buddy. On August 15, 2020, at 2:36pm, Buddy departed this life. His dutiful and loving son, Robert, and his wife, Jessica, were by his side. Other family members had lovingly stayed in touch by phone, and in fervent prayer, until he was called home.
Buddy knew that he was loved and cared for. Especially by his Mama Mary. When he was a child, she dressed him up, combed his hair and sent him out to play. She sat on the porch steps to watch him, making sure he wouldn’t get too dirty. Once when her mother, Estella Mayes, dropped by to see Buddy, she saw how neatly he was dressed, and how closely he was being watched. She said, “Mary, let the boy play!” Mary took him inside, changed his clothes, and allowed him to play in the dirt. Buddy was happy and free, even with a little dirt on his hands.
Buddy attended Grace and Peace Lutheran Church. He was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church. He attended Sunday School there regularly. Everyone he knew was his friend. Buddy was fun and lovable. Everyone wanted to be around him. He had the humor of his father, Herman. He loved to tell jokes, play pranks, and dodge trouble whenever he could. As a youngster, his Uncle Maurice, his mother Mary’s younger brother, would taunt him, just to see Buddy figure a way out of whatever situation he found himself in. Buddy always did.
Herman Robert “Buddy” Moore, Jr., leaves many to cherish memories of him. Among those are his children, Roxanne Moore of Kansas City, and Robert Moore (Jessica), of Evansville. Grandchildren, Giselle (Roxanne); Allana, Gabrielle and Brianna; and Great-grandchildren, Da’Kobe and Da’Kyrie (Robert), and his loving “Faye Faye”, Althea Thompson of Phoenix.
Also mourning are his sister, Cheryl Moore Lawrence (Phil), and family of California; his sister, Wendy Moore Horne and family of Evansville, Cousin Gloria Ferguson and family of Evansville; Uncle Frank Mayes, Jr. and family, originally of New York; Uncle Maurice E Mayes (Rachel) and family originally of Evansville; Aunt Doris Moore and family of Evansville; the Stamps families of St. Louis; the Taliefero families originally of Hammond, In; and the Moore and Mimms families originally of Kentucky.
Also remembering their dear Buddy are the loving Finott family...Ashley, RuthAnna, Octavia and Carlos. Buddy loved you all.
In heaven, among so many loving family members who have gone before him, Buddy will join his loving Mother Mary, his father, Herman, brother, Tim, grandmother, Estella; his “Aunt Al”, Altavia Mayes; and his Uncle Herschel Moore, Sr., his father’s twin.
