Elizabeth “Bess” Lukemeyer (Riggs) was born in Evansville, IN on December 9, 1923, and went to sleep to await the Second Coming of Jesus on October 1, 2013. She was the only child of Manson and Nan Lukemeyer.
Early in her life she claimed Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized into the 1st Seventh-Day Adventist Church and was active throughout her life. She was employed by Berry Plastics in purchasing for 40 years.
In 1977, she was united in marriage to Kyle Riggs. This beautiful marriage ended at his death in 1984.
Though there are no immediate survivors, she leaves behind her guardians, Roger and Debbie Burns of Elberfeld, four cousins, including Shirley Haynes of Evansville who was more of a sister, and many friends whom she loved dearly.
Special thanks to Jamie Jones and the Bethel Manor nursing staff for their love and great care to Bess, and to the Heritage Hospice for their care in her final weeks.
A Celebration of her life will be at 4:00 PM, Sunday, October 6, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Elder Roger Burns and Pastor Richard Norris, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 12:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the 1st Seventh Day Adventist Church’s Multi-Media Fund are appreciated.
