She attended Watkins Temple at an early age. She loved flowers, plants, cooking, eating fish and shopping. Most of all she loved her family, especially her children.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and Bryd Fisher; sister, Martha Thomas; grandchildren, Charlotte McGowan and Allen Lee Hawkins; and additional family members, Audrey Wallace, Urban and Millie Reising, Maggie Cody, Earl and Elizabeth Miles and Dr. Roger and Jean Bissonnette.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Henry Roosvelt Carson; children, Andrew and Leroy Carson, Mandy, Susan, Angel, Debra and Rhoda Carson; and Sherri Stevens of Mexico, who Doris called her daughter; dog, Butterscotch, who was her companion; grandchildren, Marcus Carson, Brett and Andrea Hawkins, Melvin “Scooter” Carson, Melissa Coit, Travis Lee Carson-Lambert, Alicia Ann Njie, Robert Hawkins, Jr., Angel Dawn and André Daune Hawkins, and Carl C. Hill, Jr.; 29 great-grandchildren; sisters, Birdie Cobb and Barbara Moore, both of Evansville; brother, Clarence Fisher of Newburgh; a host of nieces and nephews; and additional family members, Pam and Jim Stevens, Brett Stevens and family, Brent Stevens and family, Ginny Schroeder, Maurice Bissonnette and family, Carol and Cynthia Sparrenberger, Don and Deborah Ward, Ty and Kristin Winiger, Jerry Karlena Winiger, Ron and Toscha Hurm and family, and Jim and Claudia Schrieber.
Private family services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 30, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, with entombment in Oak Hill Cemetery.
