Dennis Arnold Stratman, 66, of Evansville, Indiana, earned his wings on Thursday, February 16, 2023, peacefully at his home. He was born September 6, 1956, in Evansville, Indiana, to the late Arthur and Bonnie (Hammel) Stratman.
Dennis owned and operated Stratman Construction for over 40 years. Over his career, he built a large clientele of satisfied and repeat customers. His favorite jobs were the ones where he was challenged to solve problems. He took great pride in his work.
He enjoyed playing, watching, and coaching sports. Dennis starred at Central High School (class of 1974) in football. He also played basketball, softball, and pool. He was an Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Hoosier, and Purdue Boilermaker fan. However, his favorite teams were the ones his kids and grandchildren played on. He rarely missed a game.
Dennis loved to spend time outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, riding his 4-wheelers, and tending to his property. He was always happy and eager to host immediate and extended family gatherings and man the grill.
Dennis will best be remembered by friends and family for his kind spirit and gentle heart. He was someone who would drop everything to help those around him and became the go-to for many in his extended family. In many respects, he became the glue of his family.
One of Dennis’ proudest moments was when he was promoted to “Papa”, the role that he was born for. Dennis relished every opportunity he had to spend time with his Grandkids.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Pamela (Martin) Stratman; son, Ryan Stratman (Amanda); daughter, Tracy Stratman (Will Blair); grandchildren, William, Evan and Eleanor Stratman, and Roselyn Blair; brother, Bruce Stratman (Sarah); sisters, Cathy Buxton (John) and Sherry Tharp (Terry); numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2023 at St. Paul’s German Township Church, officiated by Pastor Terry Farmer. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
