She retired from St. Mary’s Medical Center as an image archive technician after 43 years, where she also worked in the La Petite Daycare. Cheryl was a very active member at St. John’s Catholic Church in Evansville where she sang in the choir, served as a Eucharistic minister, and served on the parish counsel. Earlier in her life she was a member of the Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary. Cheryl was involved in missionary work at both the church and the hospital. She enjoyed sewing and making clothes along with traveling. Cheryl loved taking care of her grandchildren and was very involved in their activities.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Philco A. Jones; father, Millard Scruggs, Sr., and aunt, Anna Norman.
She is survived by her mother, Joyce; daughters, Kristie Jones (Jermaine Finger), Kendra Jones (Alton Rias), and Andrea Jones; grandchildren, Lavonte Jones, LaDavion Jones, Carl Baucham, Jr., Kyran Baucham, Andre Jones, and Alexa Jones; great-grandsons, Alijah Cantrell and Karter Burris-Jones; brother, Millard Scruggs, Jr.; sisters, Rose Scruggs and Mildred Weightman (Cecil); sisters-in-law, Clara Kendrick and Shellie Jones; nieces, Ashley Gee, Amani Gee, and Kyra Kendrick; a great-niece. great-nephew, and cousins.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at Alexander East Chapel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 11, 2021, officiated by Rev. LeVar St. Jermaine with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit on Sunday, January 10, 2021 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
