C. Richard “Rick” Derrington, 81, of Evansville, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, at VNA Charlier Hospice Center. He was born December 15, 1930, in Evansville, to the late Alfred and Lillian Derrington.
He worked at International Steel, George L. Mesker Steel and was founder of Fabcon Steel, which he remained affiliated with until his death. He was known for his generosity and kindness to people who he would help in any way possible. Also, he was a wonderful gourmet cook who loved to prepare meals for his friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his sister, Helen E. Carter, who passed away this past June at the age of 92.
He is survived by his sisters, Marjorie J. Brennan of West Palm Beach, FL and Peg Poston (Jack); brothers, Stanley L. Derrington (Marsha) and Keith A. Derrington (Joan), all of Evansville; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial celebration of Richard’s life will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Pastor Cliff Herring, with private entombment at a later date.
