Anthony D. Becker

Anthony “Tony” Becker, 79, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013. He was born February 14, 1933, in Evansville, IN. Tony graduated from Assumption School and Memorial High School in 1951. He was a US Navy Veteran serving in the Korean War aboard the USS Ammen as a radar man. Tony retired from Whirlpool after 31 years as a tool designer and was a member of the Whirlpool Management Club. He taught Tool Design related classes at Ivy Tech. He owned and operated “Becker Consulting.” He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen Straukamp and father, Emil Becker. Tony is survived by his wife of 23 years, Barbara (Jeude) Becker; sons, Terry Becker (Susan) of New Albany, IN and William Becker (Lynette) of Clarksville, TN; daughters, Nancy Wiess of Wadesville, IN, Patricia Word of New Harmony, IN and Lori Gonyer (Brad) of Evansville; eight grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 4, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel, officiated by Deacon Ed Wilkerson, with burial at a later date.
