Bill was born on February 28, 1939 to William (Vic) Shaw and Addie Marie Shaw in San Diego, CA.
The family lived in Santee, CA. and eventually moved to San Luis Obispo to live with his grandparents when his dad was drafted into the service. The family eventually moved to the Bonsall/Fallbrook area. As a young child Bill enjoyed a simple life with his brother David and sister Eve Ann where after chores they could play outside all day until dinner time. Bill attended Fallbrook High School graduating in 1957.
Following in his dad’s footsteps Bill became a plumber. He joined the plumber’s union and worked on many government jobs all over California until his retirement in 2001.
Bill’s outgoing, friendly and gregarious personality made him the life of any party. He loved to laugh, dance and enjoyed being with friends. He was an outdoor person enjoying driving his buggy in the desert, his boat at Lake Havasu, camping, fishing, water skiing and a good game of horseshoes.
Bill never met a stranger. He would talk to anyone like they were old friends. He loved to tease and embarrass you, but it was always with love and in jest.
Bill was one of the earliest supporters of Escondido Girls’ Softball helping to build their fields where Pioneer School now stands. He coached his girls for many years where many memories and friendships were made. Many of the girls he coached remained in touch 50 years later. Bill loved his girls and spent his time coaching their softball teams, teaching them to water ski and even helping with the Brownie troop campouts.
Bill found the love of his life in his wife Sharon. He and Sharon were inseparable and it was rare to see one without the other. Bill and Sharon enjoyed traveling and family time. They both loved watching their grandkids and even great grandkids sports. Bill had a deep and abiding love for his family. He was so proud of being a dad, a grandpa, a poppy and a pops. The family knew that they could rely on him to be there no matter the trouble big or small. Bill enjoyed sitting on his front porch with his pugs Shelby and Dolly and especially enjoyed martini hour with Sharon.
