Age 82, of Escondido, CA, formerly of Hamburg, NY, went Home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully, on Monday, April 15th, 2024.
Dorothy was the daughter of the late Walter & Winifred (nee Marshall) Mitchell.
Beloved wife to the late Donald Smolinski, for almost 60 years.
Loving sister to Lynda (Dennis) Wittmeyer, sister in law to the late Robert (Carol) Smolinski, and the late James (Kathy) Smolinski.
Loving mother to Donald (Tita), David (Julia), Amy Burke (Patrick), and Kevin (Amy).
Dorothy was the loving Nana to 16 grandchildren: Elisa (Nate) Hatch, Elena (Salo) Faraimo, Dion, Andrew, Sara (Eli) Perez, Matthew, Faith, Elisabeth, & Aaron Smolinski, Shannon (Kyle) Waterhouse, Kaitlyn (Tom) Rood, Zack (Brooke), Branden (Crista), Joshua, Kevin (Abigal), and Brett Smolinski.
Loving Great-Nana to 16 great grandchildren: Fili, Elena, Kent Hatch, Tafe, Tua, Salo Jr. Faraimo, Kenzie, Isaiah, Lexi, Gabriel Waterhouse, Eliana, Walter, Theodore, Grant Rood, Marion and Luca Smolinski.
Dorothy also loved her cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Throughtout her lifetime, Dorothy had many gifts, talents and interests. She loved to garden, especially her rose garden. She enjoyed cooking and baking, especially at Christmas time, when she would bake many cookies and cut outs, which was passed down to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved to draw and paint, which she enjoyed for many years.
Dorothy also enjoyed sending many cards & gifts to those she prayed for, loved and cared about.
Towards the end of her life, when she wasn’t able to do the things she used to do, she never stopped loving and praying for those who were dearest to her.
Dorothy was a beautiful, wonderful lady who will be sorely missed by all those who loved her best.
