Richard E. Heidrick, age 86, a resident of Englewood, Florida, formerly of Salamanca, New York, passed away on October 27, 2024. He was born in Salamanca, New York on August 4,1938. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Maureen (nee Fitzgerald) Heidrick; beloved father of Richard M. (Lorraine) Heidrick, Michael T. (Cathy) Heidrick and Todd S. (Rachel) Heidrick; dearest brother of Doris (late Lee) Harris and Marian Hedrick; dearest grandfather of Tom (Jen) Heidrick, Nichole (Michael) Willnow, Kris Heidrick, Rick Heidrick, Sean (Emily) Heidrick, Ryan Heidrick, Erin Heidrick and Jamie Heidrick; proud great grandfather of Ava Heidrick, Mia Heidrick, Mila Willnow, Knox Willnow, Brooks Heidrick and Hayden Heidrick. Richard was a conductor for the Northfolk Southern Railroad. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Germany. Richard was standout pitcher for Salamanca Central High School striking out 19 of 21 batters in a game a record that still stands to this day. He tried out as a pitcher for the New York Yankees. He was a fan of the New York Yankees, Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed boating, hunting and most of all spending time watching his sons sporting events. A graveside service with Military Honors for Richard will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery, 9810 State Road 72, Sarasota, FL 34241 on Monday, November 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM following will be a Celebration of Life at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Home 1935 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice FL 34293 from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.
