Marie Catherine Poirier

Cathy (Marie) was born in St. Paul, New Brunswick, Canada on July 10, 1937, a daughter of the late Henri and Marie Jeanne (LeBlanc) Goguen. She moved from Canada to Fitchburg, MA at the age of 16, where she met her husband and had her two children. She was a homemaker and worked at Renauld Sunglasses as an assembler.

She was a long-time resident of Englewood, FL. She had worked as a caregiver and was a very sweet, loving and caring person. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Emile in 2013 and by nine brothers and sisters.

Cathy is survived by her son, Bob Poirier (Denise), daughter Diane Leger (Mike), two grandchildren, Michelle Pruitt (Stan) of Longwood, FL and Sean Poirier of Portland, ME; two great-grandchildren Piper and Blake Pruitt; sisters Janet Davis of Sarasota, FL and Eleanor Gariepy of Fitchburg, MA; brothers Larry Goguen of Sarasota, FL and Henry Goguen of Ft. Myers, FL. She also leaves several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly, and her grand fur babies Brandi and Lucy whom she enjoyed spoiling with doggy treats.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2023, at St. Raphael Church in Englewood, FL, followed by a reception.

The family greatly appreciates the caregivers at Empath Tidewell Hospice. Lemon Bay Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Empath Tidewell Hospice or your local humane society.
