Gretchen Suzanne Snyder

September 14, 1946 - November 9, 2022

Gretchen “Nana” Snyder, 76, passed away on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, with her family by her side.

She was born to the late Rex and Mary Jane Roebke on September 14, 1946, in West Unity, Ohio. She was the eldest of two children, who preceded her in death. Gretchen became an elementary teacher after receiving her B.S. from the University of Miami (Ohio) and then later, her M.A. from St. Frances College in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

On January 20, 1968, she married the love of her life, William Snyder. They raised their four children on a farm in Convoy, Ohio and later moved to Englewood, Florida in 1986.

In her free time, Gretchen loved to read, play the piano, go for boat rides and listen to music in her favorite city, New Orleans. Her smile was infectious. She was a loving and caring person, devoted wife, mother, Nana and friend, always thinking of others first. “Consider yourself squeezed,” was one of her favorite sayings to those she adored.

Gretchen is survived by her husband of 54 years, William; four children: daughter, Angie, son, Kevin, daughter, Mandy, daughter, Kasey; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The memorial service will be a private ceremony with only close family members present.
