Scott was born May 8, 1964 in Springfield, IL to David and Doris (McLane) Denton. He earned his Bachelor degree in Computer Science from Northeast Louisiana University and held a Master degree in Computer Science from the University of California Davis. At the time of his death he was the Cyber Security Fellow for United Technologies Corporation. Scott was enrolled in the Doctorate of Theology degree program at International Theological Seminary, Bradenton, FL when he passed away. Prior to his illness, Scott was involved in ministries through his home church, Crosspointe Church and the Bayside Community Church Adopt-A-Block program.
Scott is survived by his wife Nicolette Denton, his two sons (of whom he was very proud) M. Blaise and Jackson S. Denton, his daughter-in-law Gabriela (Fulginiti) Denton, his mother Doris Denton, two sisters Linda Denton and Lori Powell, his Aunt Julie and Uncle Terry Heagney and family, father and mother-in-law Kenneth and Patricia Hughes, brother-in-law Ken Hughes, Jr and sister-in-law Carla Hughes. He has several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held for Scott on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Groover Funeral Home, 1400 36th Ave. E. (aka Ellenton-Gillette Road), Ellenton, FL 34222. Visitation begins at 1:00 pm followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Graveside interment will follow immediately after the service. The guys are all encouraged to wear their favorite superhero or science fiction t-shirt in Scott’s honor.
A bagpiper played Amazing Grace, which was the one thing Scott specifically requested for his funeral. The pallbearers are Blaise Denton, Jackson Denton, Avery Nackman, Ian Nackman, Ken Hughes, Jr. and Don Garcia. Pastor Jeff Weaver officiated. Pastor Nate Weaver lead the worship.
