Born in Manatee County at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Florida, November 29th, 1956 to Charles and Frances Thomas, she was a third generation Manatee County native. She is survived by her husband Bob and they were married 46 years, her sons Jeff (Jackie) and Andrew (Ashley), Grandchildren – Camron, Kadence, Collin, Savannah and Charlie. Sister Mary Jane (CF) Snyder and Brother Larry (Geri) Thomas and fellow grandparents to Savannah and Charlie, Rob and Darla Walker. As well a large extended family and friends she loved along with her Church family at First Baptist of Palmetto Florida.
She was a 1974 graduate of Manatee High School and a 1976 graduate of MJC (State College of Florida).
Miss Becky, as she was known to the children she taught, served her community and across the world loving on children and helping them grow to know the love of Jesus as a preschool teacher at Wee World at her Church and later at Family Life Community preschool. She travelled to other countries several times as a missionary to children.
She loved to spend time with family and especially her grandchildren putting together craft projects, having a tea party, playing dress up or playing games. She also was born a Gator fan and watched with her Daddy all the games and had a knack for talking to the coaches and players through the TV. She radiated love and compassion towards everyone she met. Her love for children and people in general has left a lasting impact on so many.
She lived her life not in fear but with a strong faith in her Lord Jesus Christ. She passed away at home with great peace by giving her difficulties to a God that provided her strength, comfort and mercy. Through it all she never complained and looked ahead for the day that she would meet Jesus face to face. She was a loving mother and grandmother who made life fun with never ending projects when she kept her grandkids. In early 2020, she was diagnosed with cancer and immediately began and finished reading the Bible which she had done many times during her life. She also was a great prayer warrior and journaled her prayers for others even during her sickness. If she could speak to you today, she would share to “Fear not, for the Lord is with you always, even to the end. Her faith and trust in a sovereign God gave her peace beyond understanding and lived her life not for this World but for heaven where she resides today.
