Phyllis Corean Rice, affectionately known as "Trinkie," passed away peacefully on December 1, 2023, surrounded by her family at her home in Gambrills, Maryland. She valiantly battled cancer in a brief yet courageous struggle. Trinkie, age 79, was the beloved wife, best friend, and musical partner of Clarke Rice.
Born as the sixth of seven children to John and Florence McGinnis of Chester, Pennsylvania, Trinkie is survived by her sisters Constance Smith of Ocean Pines, Maryland, and Dolores (Charli) Holmes of Aston, Pennsylvania.
Trinkie leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, and her memory will be cherished by her children: Christine, Debra, and David, as well as stepchildren Kimberly, Rob, and Robin. She was a proud grandmother to Richard , Robert , Nichole , Andrew, Brandi, Marcel, Marcus, Ryanne, and Paul.
For many years, Trinkie dedicated herself to her work, serving as the Banquet Manager at the renowned Country House Inn in Middletown, Pennsylvania. She later retired from Prince Georges County as a food service supervisor in 2000. Trinkie found joy in her artistic pursuits, participating in numerous craft fairs, showcasing her mastery as a seamstress and embroiderer.
An enthusiast of the culinary arts, Trinkie enjoyed cooking and delighted in trips to the casino. Her adventurous spirit shone through in her love for camping, boating, crabbing, and fishing. Her passions culminated in a harmonious partnership with her husband, Clarke, a lifelong musician. Together, they formed the musical ensemble "The Expressions," playing music for over 23 years.
Funeral services to celebrate Trinkie's life will be held at Gary L. Kaufman Funeral Home in Elkridge, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in Trinkie's name, honoring her courageous battle against cancer.
Trinkie's spirit will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, and her legacy will continue through the memories she created with family, friends, and fans alike. May she rest in eternal peace.
