Peter Ward of Bradenton, FL passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on May 7, 2023 at the age of 79. He was raised in Fayetteville, NY and loved the outdoors, sports (go Yankees!), running, gardening, worldwide travel, and especially golf. In addition, his infectious passion for cooking, wine, and witty conversation was happily shared with his family and friends. Family was very important to Peter and he loved spending time together celebrating life and special occasions.
Peter graduated from Hillsdale College in Michigan and began his career in the in the late 1960s as a mathematician supporting NASA space flight missions at Cape Kennedy and Goddard Space Flight Center. Over time, his work focused on the federal government where he supported his country working with the National Security Agency for over 40 years. Pete was a consummate and devoted professional known for his business acumen. He enjoyed and excelled at creating great teams, tackling difficult problems, and building organizations that routinely delivered successful products and outcomes. He always looked out for people and his wit, intelligence, and calm nature made him a great friend and superb mentor to many.
Peter is survived by his wife Ann of 34 years; four children: Laura Ragonese and her husband Jim; Jeff Ward; Stephen Ward and his wife Lesley; Janice Suter and her husband Charlie; brother Michael Ward and wife Patricia; brother David Ward and wife Lee; sister Barbara Cook and husband Ralph; three grandchildren: Cody, Kaelyn and Michael; and several nieces and nephews.
