Just heard about Mark (Aug/20). Very sad indeed.
I knew Mark and Marilyn best when they were teens and they were our favourite babysitters for our children. They were very reliable and good friends. I remember Mark coming to me and asking if he should continue his education after high school. I advised that he wouldn't go anywhere if he didn't. Mark didn't and he went on to have a very successful career in Marketing and Management.

I have never met a person as friendly as Mark in my life. He felt more like a brother to me. He has given me so many things over the years but the best thing that he gave me was his kindness and friendship.
       I will miss Mark dearly as I miss his beautiful wife Marilyn my Black Friday  Shopping partner.  Now they will be together again and forever.  They will always be in my thoughts and my heart. As well as there three super children Grant,Laura and Gregory.  Your friend Eddie “88” Murphy....

I had the privilege of knowing Mark while working in the hospitality industry for Real Hotels and Resorts and representing Choice Hotels International in Latin America. Mark always helped me with ideas to potential franchisees and projected to me,  his team and business partners this great joy of living, friendship and pride for working in a truly  global company. I had the chance of knowing more about his family because he was kind enough to ask me about mine and we shared our views and plans for them in such great places and venues like Las Vegas, Costa Rica, El Salvador and other great places. He always shared his vision of Choice Hotels being in all the continents and with me particularly growing in Latin America as we did and Europe. Also he was very kind to help me with some advice and contacts when I told him that I was going to move with my family to Canada some years ago. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues because I know is a great loss but also I am glad that he filled our lives with so many good memories, friendship  and details that have helped us to be better human beings and professionals.

I'm saddened to hear about Mark.  Someone as special as him will never be forgotten. He was such a great person and Im very lucky I had the opportunity to met him many times.

Mark, I found out this morning that he is no longer with us, I am still in great shock. It was only last month we communicated on LinkedIn. I feel so sad, I had know Mark for the past 19 years, he was a true gent. Every time he was in London, Comfort Inn Kings Cross was his home, (one of the hotels which I used to manage) he always had time for me, he would stop by to catch up. We used to have so much fun at the international, regional and European conventions, always took a bunch of selfies together! It was definitely a Pleasure to have known you and to have worked with you. 

We were very shocked and saddened to hear the news of the passing of Mark. We will remember him as a gentle, intelligent and inspirational person. On behalf of RGN brand identity services, our sincere and deepest condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues at Choice Hotels International.

I am so grateful for knowing Mark. He had a gift for giving others joy (even in the midst of his own pain). He taught me the value of believing in and finding rainbows....and having the faith to know they were there even if we couldn’t see them. Over the years I’ve known Mark, he would send me photos of rainbows he found during his travels. He has no idea how much his hope in rainbows has helped others. Just the other day, a friend called me who was going through a difficult time. The first words she said when we spoke were, “I found my rainbow.”  I will always see Mark in that beautiful light. 

It was a great honor of knowing Mark and working with him, because through him and his spirit, I experienced a new dimension in my professional life. I learned to move forward with  positive pressure, enjoyment at new projects and to be proud about where I come from and what I am. Mark made it easy for me and for anyone to be part of his immediate environment. That's how I felt like being a temporary member of his friends and family. He cooked by himself, decorated fantastically and prepared everything wonderfully and lovely, we danced, we laughed a lot and visibly he enjoyed his life.
His aspiration was to bring and to keep everyone together at home as well as at traveling. No one was excluded, everyone was involved and he always showed great interest in detailed reports from my home. Rest in peace Mark and all my thoughts I sent to you Laura, Greg, Grant & your families.

I have many personal and work memories of Mark.  He loved entertaining and cooking up a feast for everyone.
I remember Mark's laugh when he worked at Choice Canada.  I would hear him laughing likely at David Beer's and I would laugh, even though I had no idea what they were laughing at.  When you heard Mark's laugh it was infectious throughout the office.  I miss that..

We had the pleasure of being neighbours to Mark and Marilyn for a few short years as the kids were growing up. Mark was a great guy, father and husband. He really cared about people. We knew he worked hard, was talented at his job, and was heading upwards but he always seemed relaxed and easy going. Mark lived his life to the fullest, and in doing so, touched many lives.  He and Marilyn raised three wonderful kids, to whom our hearts go out. Taken far too soon, Rest In Peace, Mark.

We met Mark when we moved into our home here at Symphony Park.  Our balconies looked out at one another and we would catch up with one another while hanging over the railings, usually with a glass of wine in hand!  When Mark was in town we'd get together for drinks or dinner and  so enjoyed his friendship.  He was a caring and giving person and we will miss his candor and infectious laughter.  Our sincerest condolences to his children and family.  We feel lucky to have known him and to have shared his friendship.  He will be missed by so many but his memory will remain in our hearts. 

All of us at Grand Hotel Guayaquil, an Ascend Hotel Collection Member, are deeply saddened by the news of Mark passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I had the honour and privilege to have worked with Mark, many moons ago at Go Vacations. We had some amazing time together when he lived in Ontario with the love of his life Marilyn, and his three amazing kids. 
Mark was a kind and caring man, who embraced life and family; he was a generous soul; and an amazing friend!
 I would never forget his joyful laugh and would always remember him at Christmas; with the villages and the trains; the tree, the fabulously decorated home & most recently photos of his tables, all priceless!

I want to send to you my love and condolences.  I always had excellent thoughts about your father and a very nice relationship.    Your father was a person with a kind soul, heart and his actions were the perfect reflection of who he was. 

I had the honor, the privilege and the fortune to know him and for me this was awesome!  These days it is difficult to find people like him!  The people live so quickly, do not think about others and help others.  He had the great ability to think and help each member that was part of his team. 

Let’s tell the entire world how kind he was and that he was a great human being!

At first it will be very difficult to accept this lost.  However, we have so many nice memories of him that he always will live in our minds and hearts.  Your father helped me when I got very sick and he always was there to cheer me up.  I know it will take time to heal the lost of a great man.

It was such a pleasure to have known and worked with Mark while I was at Choice, and to have many wonderful dinners with him and his lovely wife, Marilyn. I'll miss Mark's infectious laugh and sense of humor – not to mention his table designs and cooking! Oh, and the detailed Christmas villages!! 

Mark and Marilyn raised three terrific kids and positively influenced the careers of many.

The first time I met Mark was for my “onboarding” after I joined Choice. While we did talk about work, the conversation focused on life and family and I instantly fell in love with him. Mark was kind and had a zest for life. Ever since our first meeting, it was always such a pleasure to see Mark in Rockville. We would meet so he could share all the great work his team was doing outside the U.S.  and would also talk about life. He was a really great guy. I loved his Canadian accent and laugh. You will be missed by many, my friend. 

Not everyone’s first impression is memorable, however, something tells me everyone that met Mark would have an imprint for a lifetime. He joined a small luncheon at work to allow me to get to know more leaders at Choice Hotels. He strolled in late looking dapper and sat next to me with his sunglasses on and proceeded to stare at the menu for about 5 minutes before I leaned in and lifted his sunglasses to see his eyes and said “Hello. I’m Victoria.” He chuckled, removed his sunglasses and began to test me for worthiness. We both laughed about this many times over our 10 short years of friendship.
