Eddie attended Cave Springs High School for the Deaf in Roma, Georgia. He loved horses, fast cars and working on the farm with his uncle William riding and caring for them.
In 2012, Eddie came to eMerge Inc, and was loved by all who met him. During his tenure at eMerge Joe, attended a day program at Humanim of Baltimore until his retirement in 2019. Joe, as he was called at eMerge loved going to Applebee’s with his one-to-one staff Donna Booker where he would get his occasional beer for the week. When his staff would take him to Applebee’s he would wait until she went to the restroom and then he would order another beer (this one would be on the staff)! He also liked going to the Dollar Store to get his snacks. His very first staff now Associate Director Shernell Washington took him on vacations every year until his health began to fail. Joe loved to travel by car, he loved to see the scenery and the trees. His Team Manager, Alicia Smoot drove him and two other customers to Disney World, Florida where he enjoyed walking around and eating the BIG TURKEY leg. Joe loved country cooking especially PIG FEET, turkey legs, macaroni and cheese and homemade bread pudding.
Joe loved horses, dogs and children. Even though his first language was American Sign Language, he and Donna had their own language, and it could be seen when they were together.
His doctor at John Hopkins Hospital Dr. Sanber, would be impressed with how they interacted. We will truly miss him at eMerge.
