He was a native of Georgetown, IN, served in the Army National Guard and was a member of Grandview Baptist Church. He proudly worked in the monument industry for 27 years and 10 years with the Floyd County Highway Road Department.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Cook and brothers, Tommy Murphy and Donnie Mayfield.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Bonnie Horn Mayfield; son, Raymond "Trey" Mayfield, III (Kelly), grandson, Trevor; siblings, Linda Tankisley, Paul Mayfield, Bill Mayfield, Ed Mayfield, Sheila Smith; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The funeral will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Horn Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Indian School.
