Sometime, on the night of June 5th, Mom reached down from Heaven, grabbed Dad’s hand, and said,“Let’s dance!” He went peacefully into her arms.

Dad was born in Canutillo, TX, “on the Brown place”, to Jack and Ruth Cox. They later bought “the Hanson place” and moved to what is, now, known as Cox Farm. Dad lived on this farm most of his 85 years, where he farmed and raised cattle; he loved farming and cattle. In 1962, Dad was named Las Cruces Jaycee’s Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year. He later went on to start delinting cotton, selling planting seed, brokering grain, and selling white tortilla corn. He was in the grain and seed business for over 40 years where he crossed paths with many people who were a great influence to him.

Dad graduated from Anthony Union High School (now Gadsden High School) where he played football and basketball. He attended New Mexico A & M, where he played basketball, and Oklahoma A & M.

Dad was a great story teller and loved to tell stories about the valley, his life, and the people he knew; sometimes more than once! He loved his family, anything to do with agriculture and cattle, southwest history, and sports.

Dad, and Mom, were married, and lived in the same house on the hill, for 65 years. He is survived by his daughter, Jo Ann (Chuck) Culpepper of Farmington, NM; his son, Bill, of Anthony; his granddaughter, Jessica (Eric Winstead) Culpepper of Tucson, AZ; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family, and very special friends. He is, also, survived by his sister Betty Smythe of Lufkin, TX.

He will be cremated and there will be no services.
