Ruben R. Tellez

El Paso – Ruben Robert Tellez [82], of El Paso, TX passed away on July 30, 2021 in Colorado Springs, CO where he lived with his wife and immediate family for the past 9 years. He was born on May 6, 1939 to his parents, Amelio Cerecedes Tellez and Sara Maynez Tellez in El Paso, TX. Ruben attended Cooley Elementary and Clardy Fox Elementary Schools then El Paso Tech High School where he played football and became involved in mechanics. Here is where he met the love of his life, Felipa Esther Fierro-Tellez. After high school, Ruben married his high school sweetheart, enlisted in the military, traveled with the military before attending Fresno Community College and starting a family. He served 6 years in the U.S. Army as a Medical Corpsman before fulfilling a life-long career in the automotive industry in El Paso, Texas. His desire for learning and working in the automotive industry would not end here. Ruben then began a second career in teaching as a Vocational Automotive Instructor at Western Technical College in El Paso, TX. His passion to teach others and share his automotive knowledge with the younger generation was an inspiration to everyone before he decided to retire and move to Colorado with his wife so they could be closer to their children and grandchildren. Ruben was an avid auto racing enthusiast who also enjoyed tinkering around with cars, riding motorcycles, off roading, camping, and boating with his family and friends. He was a great conversationalist who enjoyed helping others and giving advice from the heart. Ruben was a devout Christian and volunteer with his church, first in CA with the Nicky Cruz Crusade, second in TX with his church assisting the Homeless, TX Teen Challenge, Boy Scouts, and Lions Club. He was an intelligent, wise, charismatic, loving, giving, and loyal person to his family, relatives, friends, co-workers, and to his brothers and sisters in Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents Amelio Cerecedes Tellez and Sara Maynez Tellez, his sister Martha Tellez, and his loving wife of 61 years Felipa Esther Fierro Tellez who passed away in 2020 in Colorado. Ruben will be missed, loved and never forgotten by his brother Herman Tellez and his family, son Abraham R. Tellez (Christina); his son Aaron Tellez (Teresa); his daughter Deborrah Tellez-Read (Greg); and his beloved grandchildren, Vanessa Reveles-Montoya (Marc), Victoria Reveles-Lockhart (Caton), Jacob A. Tellez, Joshua P. Tellez, Isabel M. Tellez, Hannah G. Tellez, Mathew M. Read, Andrew R. Read, Caleb U. Landrum and the extended Tellez, Contreras, and Bustamante family. He will always be remembered as a very committed loving husband, father and provider by everyone who knew him.

Thank you dad for all the wonderful times and memories you shared with us. You will always be in our hearts and be deeply missed. We love you, your family.

Graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 15, 2021 @ 10:00am at Evergreen East Funeral Home & Cemetery, El Paso, TX 79938. Family requests that all flowers and cards be sent to the same location.
