Rosamaria Briones, 68, returned to her heavenly home on Monday after a valiant and sudden illness. Her devotion to her family and firm belief in the Lord gave her strength through her medical struggles and ultimately gave her peace as she traveled home. Rosie was born to Carmen Mier Muñoz and Antonio Muñoz Lujan in Ciudad Juarez. She graduated Austin High School and received her Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Education and Masters in Bilingual Education from UTEP. She spent 25 years teaching at Hillside for EPISD and went on as an Administrator at GISD.
She was an educator at heart. Her children and students brought her to life. She was a kind soul, with a generous heart who loved deeply with compassion and always made time for her family and those closest to her. Her grandchildren were the loves of her life and brought her a new sense of joy and fulfillment. She was a lover of fine art and music who enjoyed tending to her garden and beautifying her home. She loved being active by participating in aerobics, dance, and yoga as frequently as she could.
Rosie was blessed with a large and loving family. She married Ernesto Briones on 12-19-76. The couple shared 42 glorious years together. Ernie was the love of her life, her best friend, confidant, and a constant source of strength and happiness. Her children and stepson, never doubted her love and devotion to them; for she lived her life as an example of God’s unconditional love and acceptance.
Rosie is survived by her husband Ernesto Briones; her daughter, Carla Raissa Briones, her grandchildren Marcos Ivan Garcia, Jerry Garcia, Michael Rey Briones-Carbajal, her brothers Juan, Lalo, and Saul Munoz. She is preceded in death by her son Marcos Ivan Briones and stepson Matthew Briones.
