Robert K Reynolds, DDS (“Doc Reynolds”) passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 87. Doc was born on November 24, 1936, in Xenia, Ohio to a family of dentists, 3rd generation. Eventually he attended The Ohio State University where he met his wife Audree Whitford and attended the College of Dentistry. Robert graduated in 1965 and moved back to his hometown of Xenia with his wife and their young son Lance. There he took over his father’s dental practice.
After visiting a classmate from dental school, Myles Miller in El Paso, the lure of the West took over and he moved his young family, which now included daughter Kristin to El Paso in 1969, there they set up roots and started a general practice in Northeast El Paso.
During this time, he was always involved in various organizations and charities. A lifelong avid hunter and shooter, he was a lifetime member of the NRA and longtime member of the Fort Bliss Rod and Gun Club. He participated in and helped organize yearly youth events, gun safety classes, competitive shooting matches (including attending national finals competitions) and later he was involved in numerous trap, skeet and sporting clay events for many years. Doc’s membership to Ducks Unlimited spanned many decades and included sponsorship and annual charity events. Other organizations he belonged to and supported for many years would include, but not limited to Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Texas Dental Association, El Paso District Dental Society, and local and state law enforcement organizations of various kinds.
After retirement around 1997, “Doc” perfected the art of puttering around and honed his knife making skills and craft. He made many knives of various sizes and shapes and enjoyed giving them to family and friends. He donated many knives over the years to charity auctions, especially Ducks Unlimited where they always brought lively bidding.
Robert is survived by his wife of 64 years Audree Reynolds, daughter Kristin Berry (Gary), their cats Bucky and Benny and his sister Jane Berkley. He is preceded in death by son Lance and brother Tom Reynolds. He will be interred at Restlawn Cemetery at a future date next to his son Lance. Please consider donating to one of Doc’s favorite charities or Hospice of El Paso.
