She was the second of four children.
A native Spanish speaker and fluent in English.
She took on the responsibility in the eleventh grade by getting a job to help her mother raise her two younger brothers.
She worked as a seamstress at Hortex, sewing denim jeans in downtown El Paso.
In the 89 years that Raquel lived, she was so many things to so many people.
She was a hero, a queen, and the world to some.
She had a heart of gold, always looking out for others, lending a listening ear, or arms for a hug.
Although she didn’t have much, she always opened her door to immigrants letting them shower, change and pack them a lunch, so they can continue their journey.
She was known as the soda lady growing up on Graphite Dr., because she’d sell bottles of soda to the neighbors that she would bring from Juarez Chihuahua, Mexico
She passed away surrounded by her loved ones at the age of 89, on 01/02/2024 after a battle with complications due to pneumonia.
She is predeceased by her mother Carmen, brother Lily, her husband Jose Cabrera Valadez, and her son Sergio Antonio Valadez.
She is survived by her sons Jorge Eduardo Valadez, Gerardo Valadez, stepson Jose Manuel De La Cruz, daughters Elizabeth Oaxaca, Veronica Gonzalez.
Will be missed by extended family, including nieces, cousins, fourteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
The funeral will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Hillcrest West.
