On January 9, 2023, Nancy Ann Johnson (1941-2023) has gone to meet her Lord and Savior at the age of 81. Daughter of Norman and Jane Wilson, the military family moved yearly around the USA until 1952, when at the age of 12, the family moved to El Paso, Texas where they remained. She graduated from Ysleta High School in 1959 where she was a member of the Drum Corps.
In 1961 she married David E. Tessman and they had 3 daughters, Judy Lyn (Rob), Kelly Jean (Mike), and Lori Kay. She had several jobs over the next few years. A few being Union fashion, El Paso Natural Gas and WM. F. Mayhall CPA.
In 1973, she attended EPCC where she obtained her LVN license and worked at St. Joseph Hospital until 1981 when she went to work for OB/GYN Assoc. Divorced in 1983, she remarried in 1986 to Bobbie Joe Johnson. Along with her youngest daughter, they moved to Faulkton, South Dakota, onto Gillette, WY. Then in 1987 moved to Sheridan, WY where they found their “forever after”, her husband employed with Big Horn Airways and then, upon his retirement, became caretaker with Sheridan’s Sportsman’s Club.
She continued to work in nursing until her retirement in 2002. By this time, they were empty nesters and did a lot of camping and traveling. They were members of FBC/Sheridan where they were very active and considered their many friends as “family”. She taught a ladies Bible Study each week.
She returned to El Paso, TX in August of 2012 where she lived close to her daughter, Judy and her family. She became a member of FBC where she taught the ladies Berean Sunday School Class from 2016 until October of 2021 when her health began to fail her.
Nancy was predeceased by both parents and her husband, Bobbie. She leaves a brother, Danny (Lea) in El Paso, TX (5 children) and a sister, Norma (Gene) in Minneapolis, MN (4 children). Besides her three girls, she leaves a beloved stepson Brent (Cindy) of Cortland, NY. Also, beloved stepdaughter, Sheree (Brock) of Paris, TN. She had 9 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, TX 79912. Nancy will be flown back to Sheridan, WY to be buried next to her husband Bobbie Joe. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214.
