Mary D. Apodaca, 98, of El Paso, died Friday, April, 15, 2016. Mary was born in El Paso, Texas on March 5, 1918. During the 1930's, Mary was married to Arthur Apodaca and relocated to Long Beach, CA. Mary worked in the shipyards as a "Rosie the Riveter" in support of the war. They resettled back in El Paso, TX. in 1946 to raise their family. To say she was a strong spirit is an understatement. Intellectually sharp and always a critical thinker, Mary most loved to garden and passed this love along to her children, she is dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Mary is preceded in death by her son Samuel A. Apodaca, daughter Mary H. Scott and husband Arthur Apodaca. Mary is survived by siblings Frances Acosta and Elisario Duran; her children Anita Blanco (Servie Blanco, deceased), Alice Parra (Richard Parra), Angie Apodaca, Nancy Apodaca, son-in-law Mike Scott; grandchildren Christine, Esther, Barbara, Andie, Helen, Arthur, Sam, Erik, Kristopher; four great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, April 22nd at Martin Central Chapel where the Rosary will be said at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, April 23nd at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2709 Alabama St. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
