She was a longtime resident of El Paso and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and devoted to our virgin Mary. Cuquita enjoyed gardening and was a great cook which she enjoyed doing for her family and friends. Maria was the matriarch of the family, although very strict, she was very compassionate and caring. She would try to help those in need without hesitation and her smile would light up the room as she welcomed relatives and strangers in her household.
Maria was preceded in death by her husbands, Alfonso Macias and Benigno Salazar; her father Jesus Sanchez and mother, Lazara Sanchez; her grandchildren Anthony Hernandez, Izaih Olivarez and Carina Gonzalez.
Maria is survived by her daughters, Anita Tejada and Maria Trejo; sons, Jose Jesus Macias, Armando Sanchez; daughters, Lydia Gonzalez, Elizabeth Olivarez and Mary Lou Salazar; grandchildren, Araceli Acosta, Robert Hernandez, Jazmin Ramirez, Sahir Aziel Salazar, Miriam, Jesus Alfonso and Francisca Rosario Macias, Maria Imelda, Veronica and Adriana Trejo, Jose Luis Gonzalez, Lydia Crystal and Guadalupe Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Aiden Hernandez, Juan Jr., Ezia and Yazline Acosta, Martin Johnathan and Miranda Isabella Arambula, Mackenzie and Joseph Allen Macias, Emmette Elias Banda, Maddox Uriel Hopkins, Liliana Marie, Luis Emilio, Natalia Carina and Julian Matias Gonzalez, Ashley Nicole, Andrew Aiden, April Marie and Anthony Joseph Hernandez.
