Beloved wife and mother Maria Elena Provencio returned to her Heavenly Father on June 4, 2018. Born on October 17, 1934, Maria Elena was a vibrant and athletic beauty who loved playing basketball, singing, dancing, and connecting with people. Patiently, Patricio Provencio spent six years courting his future bride. The devoted and loving couple spent 60 years together, raising their three children – their pride and joy - Jesus Alonzo Provencio (deceased), Sandra E. Majma (h. Mohammed Majma) and Griselda P. Oaxaca. Through her love, faith, wisdom and strength–she nourished their love of life -- and guided them through its greatest trials.
Maria Elena will live on in the traditions, stories and recipes she shared. She will be remembered for her gracious and jovial spirit as well as her love of coffee ice cream. Her strength lives on in her grandchildren Lizeth P. Salayandia, Vanessa Gentile, Raphael J. Majma, Teyali P. Vazquez, Alonzo O. Provencio and Anais Provencio -- and her six great-grandchildren (with her seventh arriving in July).
The viewing will be at 5 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m., on Sunday, June 10 at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana. Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 11 at St. Pius X, 1050 N. Clark Dr., followed by burial at Mt. Caramel Cemetery, 401 S. Zaragoza Rd.
