Maria Ortiz

Our beloved mother, Maria Ortiz, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2024. She was a woman of strong faith who loved God, life, and her family with everything she had. Our mom was the heart of our family and the glue that held us together. She loved the way God intended, with compassion, kindness, grace, and patience. We will forever cherish her memory with gratitude for the wonderful memories and unconditional love she leaves behind.

She was preceded in death by our father, her husband of 59 years, Eulogio Ortiz; her parents, Jesus Robles and Maria de Jesus Guerrero de Robles.

She is survived by her sons: Pete, Angel (Mireya), Cano (Chari), and Raul (Ruth); daughters: Becky Garcia from San Antonio, Lucy, and Lupe; 12 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; her sister, Elisa Montes from Los Angeles, and countless nieces and nephews.

We were blessed to have had the help of three of God’s angels here on earth: Zenaida Saenz, Graciela Flores, and Lucila Gonzalez, who provided excellent care and love to our mom for many years, and especially during her final days.

Visitation will be held at Hillcrest Funeral Home - Carolina on Monday, March 11, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the Vigil Service beginning at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St John Paul II Church at 9 AM. Rite of Committal will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery.
