Maria Holguin Figueroa

Maria Holguin Figueroa, lifelong El Paso resident went home to be with the Lord on Dec 2, 2017. She was born on May 6, 1924 in Socorro, Texas to Francisco Z. Holguin and Engracia Romero Holguin. She is preceded in death by her brother Raul Holguin, sister Concha Sanchez and daughter Maria Teresa (Tessie) Figueroa.

Maria is survived by her husband of 69 years, Jose Javier Figueroa, her sister Antonia Cruz and their children Jose R. Figueroa, Francisco Figueroa and his wife Lynda, Roberto Figueroa and his wife Beverley, Sofia Figueroa Whitmire and her husband Sam and William Figueroa.

Eleven grandchildren: Juan Figueroa, Andrea Figueroa Osmond, David Figueroa, Christopher Figueroa, Michael Figueroa, Vanessa Figueroa Bayless, Nathaniel Figueroa, Sarah Figueroa Johnson, Matthew Figueroa, Adrian Figueroa, Alan Figueroa and nine great grandchildren all of whom loved her dearly.

Maria was the first female board certified dental technician in El Paso and worked on Ft. Bliss until she retired from the civil service in 1987. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the Americas court of our blessed Mother #1731.

Maria was a devout Catholic and Godly woman who was known for her love and dedication to her family and her gentleness, kindness, generosity & sense of humor. She was always giving of her time and hospitality to her family, and friends.

She was beloved by her family and all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Rosary will be held at 9:00am Saturday, December 9, 2017 at La Purisima Socorro Mission, 328 S. Nevarez Street, Socorro, TX, with Mass of Christian Right at 10:00am. Interment to follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Socorro, TX. Services entrusted to Martin East www.funerariasdelangel.com/martin-east
