Margarita (Garcia) Chafino passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 09, 2023 at the age of 90. She was born on April 30, 1932 in El Paso, Texas. She lived her entire life in El Paso. She was the daughter of Norberto Luis Garcia and Delores Armendariz Garcia.
Margarita (affectionately called Nana), was a graduate of El Paso High School. It was during this time that she met her true love…Hector Chafino. Nana and Hector were married on September 15, 1949. Nana was a housewife and devoted mother throughout her life.
Nana and Hector shared their lives together for 64 years until Hector was called to Heaven in 2014. She is survived by her four children: Louis Hector Chafino, Margaret [Margo] Barela (Jim Barela), Ricardo [Rick] Chafino (Alejandra Chafino) and Maria Teresa Acevedo-Chafino.
Nana is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Michael Barela (Lauren Barela), John Barela (Kim Barela), David Chafino (Claudia Chafino), Daniel Chafino, Cristian Chafino, Erika Acevedo Flores (Tim Flores), Adam Acevedo and Tarah Chafino.
Nana also enjoyed the love of her Great-grandchildren: Luciano Chafino, Amber Barela, Brayden Barela, Arisai Chafino, Dominic Flores, Reece Barela, Sarai Chafino, Aubrey Flores, Hudson Barela, Nathaniel Flores, Greyson Chafino and Catalina Chafino.
Margarita is also survived by her loving sister, Marlin Elena Butler.

Visitation for Margarita will be held Tuesday, March 21, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N Resler Dr, El Paso, Texas 79912. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St Matthew Catholic Church, 400 W Sunset Rd, El Paso, Texas 79922. Pallbearers will be her loving grandchildren and Honorary Pallbearers will be her Greatgrandchildren. Rite of Committal to follow at 1:00 PM at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, New Mexico 88008.
