Manuel Mendoza, Jr. passed away on September 28, 2018 due to sudden and unrecoverable complications as the result of a severe accident he sustained three days earlier. He was born in El Paso, Texas to Manuel Rosas Mendoza and Petra H. Mendoza. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Martha Cardenas Mendoza; his two sons Mark Emanuel and Michael Emanuel; a dear daughter-in-law, Sue Martin Mendoza; four grandchildren Jacklyn, Christina, Michael and Ana Yesenia; many brothers/sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Cathedral High School. He dropped out of high school and served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to El Paso, he was a member of the First Graduating Class of the El Paso Community College. He then attended the University of Texas at El Paso and graduated with both a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. He continued his education and earned his Mid-management (School Administrator) Certificate and Superintendent Certificate. He was a devoted life-long child advocate and educator. He made a significant and profound difference in the lives of countless students and educators through his service as a Teacher at Hughey Elementary School, Assistant Principal at Alamo and Clardy Elementary Schools as well as Henderson Middle School. He also served the children of the El Paso Independent School District as Principal at Hart, Crockett, Milam, Douglass and Alta Vista Elementary Schools. Visitation: Wed., Oct. 3, 2018, 5-9 pm with Vigil beginning at 7pm at Martin Funeral Home Central, 3839 Montana Ave. Funeral Mass: Thurs., Oct. 4, 2018, 9:30 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery, West Shelter, with Military Honors.
