Lydia Juanita Taylor was born April 18, 1947. She was the daughter of her late parents Harold T. Christmas and Alice Mae Christmas. Lydia is survived by her siblings Millie Mae Martin and Andre Christmas.
Lydia was married to her surviving husband of 56 years, Charles H. Taylor . Her children Christopher Taylor, Kai Taylor, Tamara Wright and Sean Taylor. Lydia has 7 living grandchildren she loved very much.
Lydia acquired many accolades throughout her life. She was the first black woman selected to sing the alma mater at Bel Air High School. She continued to perform at various school events.
She received her Bachelor's in nursing and completed a master's degree at UTEP.
Fluent in Spanish, she became the school nurse in San Elizario for 13 years. True to her nurturing spirit, she was the founder of 'The Health Fair" to aid the community she loved to serve. Lydia was voted Texas School Nurse of the Year in 1989.
After retiring from Montwood High School. She decided to become a full-time grandmother and wife. Her love of her family, pandas and our savior kept her whole. We should look back on her life in awe and celebrate.

A visitation for Lydia will be held Monday, January 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, 1060 North Carolina Dr., El Paso, Texas 79915. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Evergreen Cemetery East, 12400 Montana Ave, El Paso, TX 79938.
