Lorenzo M. Colunga , went home to join our Heavenly Father on September 28, 2010. Lorenzo was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was very proud of growing up in Smelter town. A carpenter by trade, he retired from Ft. Bliss civil service after 35 years and was named Outstanding Civilian Employee of the year in 1981. A jack of all trades, he enjoyed fixing anything and everything. He is preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Winkelman. He is survived by his wife, Maria A. Colunga, sons: George (Lina), Eddie (Maria), daughters: Corina Keimig (George), Patsy Winkelman (Eric), and Cindy Scoggins (Jonathan), 10 grandchildren, and brother, Johnny Colunga. Visitation was held on Thursday, September 30, 2010 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Martin Funeral Home West. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 1, 2010 at 11:00 am at St. Matthews Catholic Church, 400 W. Sunset. Active Pallbearers are George Colunga, Eddie Colunga, Eric Winkelman, George Keimig, Mike Vera, and Danny Colunga. Honorary Pallbearers are Johnny Colunga, Jonathan Scoggins, Adan Valdez, and Carlos Vera. Internment will follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery with military honors.
