Our Beloved, Juan Meraz passed away on October 5, 2016. He was born May 5th, 1941 in El Paso, Texas the son of Antonia and Jesus Meraz Sr. Juan graduated from Ysleta High School, El Paso Community College, and attended the University of Texas El Paso. He served his country for four years in the U.S. Navy, and worked for the El Paso Fire Department for 28 years. He owned Meraz Roofing and Remodeling. He was also a Code Enforcement Officer for the city of Socorro, Texas. Juan enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, playing poker, and watching his favorite football team the San Francisco 49ers. Juan is survived by his wife of 50 years Dora, children: Linda M. Ramirez (Robert), Juan Meraz Jr. (Cindy), David Meraz (Wendy), Grandchildren: Gracen, Emeri, Gabriela, Mia, Daniela, Alyssa, and Joaquin; Siblings: Jovita Rosencrans (Carlos), Consuela Evans+ (Don), Maria Elena Battaglia (Tony), Soledad Fierro (Fred), Jesus Meraz Jr, (Graciela), Sara Duran (Armando), Luis Meraz (Cecilia), Rachel Meraz, Rosie Meraz. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation: Sunday, October 9th from 5:00-9:00 pm with Vigil at 7:00 pm at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 1060 N. Carolina Drive. Mass: Monday, October 10th at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Valley Church followed by interment at Mount Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be donated to Sisters of the Good Shepard in Juan’s name at PO Box 17635, El Paso, Texas 79907.
