It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Juan M. Gomez. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday June 5th, 2024, at the age of 79 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on October 18th, 1944, and was a lifelong resident of El Paso, Texas. He is preceded in death by his wife Beatriz A. Gomez and sister Yvonne C. Vidrio. He is survived by brothers Edward Carrillo, Joe Carrillo and sister Ana C. Bernabe. Followed by his children Nora A. Cisneros, Guadalupe Acosta, Juan M. Gomez Jr., and Cristina G. Ramirez along with 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
After graduating from Ysleta High School in 1962 he went on to serve his country in 1966 by enlisting in the United States Army. He honorably served his country for 5 years during the Vietnam Era earning the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Sharpshooter Rifle Badge. He was honorably discharged in August of 1971 where he went on to work at Weaver Scopes then as a production supervisor at Tonka Toys, and finally retiring from the Toro Company. His favorite past-times included spending time with loved ones, Sunday cookouts, visiting the local casino and listening to oldies and classic Rock n' Roll music. He enjoyed watching football and any war related movies and had an incredible passion for hot rods, model trains and airplanes. He loved working on cars and was always ready to educate anyone interested in learning.
Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, June 20th from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. rosary to begin at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home East 1060 N. Carolina Dr., El Paso Texas 79915.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday June 21st, 2024, at Little Flower Catholic Church 171 Polo Inn Rd., 79915 at 12 p.m.
Graveside service at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery 5200 Fred Wilson El Paso, Texas at 1:30 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Juan M. Gomez Jr., Eric Ramirez, Michael A. Cisneros, Jeremy Ramirez, Jacob A. Gomez and Jonathan E. Ramirez.
