Joseph is survived by his loving wife, Darlene Aurora (Guerra) Dumais of 34 years and his children David Dumais (Donna), John Phillip Dumais, Diane Mummaw, and Lauren Angela Larrea (Jacob). As well as his grandchildren Michael Cote, Dylan Dumais, Jacob Jace Larrea, Caleb James Larrea, Leah Dumais (Dina Putri), Candace Cooper (Matt), Samantha Mummaw and great granddaughter Cora Cooper.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Phillip and Marquerite (LaPlante) Dumais; his siblings John Dumais (Alice) and Dorothy “Dot” (Dumais) Godin (Robert); and his grandson David Dumais (Katly).
Joe graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School, Lawrence, Massachusetts with the class of 1954. He later received his Bachelor’s degree of Science in Industrial Science at Fitchburg State College, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Navy Armed Forces and was assigned to the Pentagon to work on a top secret assignment called AFSWP - Armed Forces Special Weapons Project. He later worked at Raytheon for over 39 years until he retired as the Materials and Distribution Manager in 2001.
He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and a resident of Salem, N.H., until moving to El Paso, Texas in 1978 and presently an active member of St. Rafael Catholic Church and a former longtime member of Saint Joseph Parish of Salem, N.H. Joe enjoyed watching his favorite team, the New England Patriots, Boston Celtics, cooking, jogging and the love of playing racquetball with his wife and his Raytheon colleagues.

A visitation for Joseph will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Crestview Funeral Home, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79936. A vigil will occur Monday, March 6, 2023 at 6:00 PM, 1462 North Zaragoza Rd., El Paso, Texas 79936. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar Rd, El Paso, Texas 79925. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave, El Paso, Texas 79906.
