Jose Dominguez Jr.

dementia. He leaves behind a legacy of determination and his love of baseball.

Chito was born on June 9, 1934 in El Paso, Texas. He was a proud graduate of Jefferson High School,

where he excelled athletically. From 1949 to 1951, Chito showcased his exceptional talent as a member

of the Varsity Baseball team. His dedication and skill earned him a place on Jefferson's 1st District

Championship Baseball Team, where he received All District Honors.

Despite receiving a baseball scholarship offer from the University of Arizona, Chito made the courageous

decision to pursue a career in minor league baseball. From 1954 to 1957, he played for the

BisbeeDouglas Copper Kings in the Arizona Texas League. Chito's passion for the sport and his

unwavering commitment to his team were evident throughout his time on the field.

In addition to his baseball career, Chito served his country with honor and distinction in the United

States Army. As a medic, he provided crucial medical support to his fellow soldiers. Chito's love for

baseball continued during his military service, and he had the privilege of representing his unit on the

All-star Team in 1958. That same year, he led his Brooks Army Medical Center Team to victory in the

Army League Championship.

Later in life, Chito became a firefighter for the EPFD and pursued his education, earning a Bachelor's

Degree in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at El Paso. His contributions to the world

of baseball were recognized when he was inducted into the El Paso Baseball Hall of Fame in 1999.

Chito is preceded in death by his father, Jose A. Dominguez, his mother, Maria S. Dominguez, his

brother, Frank Dominguez, and his cousin, Benito Dominguez. He is survived by his loving wife, Delia R.

Dominguez, his daughter, Laura Dominguez-Coley, his grandson, Justin Robert Coley, his granddaughter

Alexis Blaire Coley, and great-grandson, Justus Coley.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 24th, 2024 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer

service at 6:30 pm at Funeraria Del Angel Martin Central, located at 3839 Montana Avenue, El Paso,

Texas 79903.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to the Veterans Administration, Good Samaritan

Society – El Paso – Hospice, American Health Services, LLC and lastly, they would like to extend their

heartfelt gratitude to Rosa De La Cruz, Chito's loving caregiver. Rosa's unwavering commitment,

compassion, and love provided immense comfort to him and the entire family. Her selflessness and

dedication will forever be remembered and cherished.
