Joe A. Torres

Joe Angel Torres, 85, died peacefully on July 28, 2017 surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren. Joe was born in Hillrose, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents: Heraclio and Mary Torres and his brothers Alfred, Victor, and Eric and his sister Lupe. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1950-1954 and fought in the Korean War. Following his service in the Air Force he then enlisted in the National Guard of Colorado from 1955-1956. He was then a Civil Service Employee at Fort Bliss until his retirement in 1990. All his life he loved to go camping and fishing. He is survived by his wife, Christina; his sons, Dan Torres (Chickie) and David Torres (Adriana); and daughters, Becky Aleman (Martin) and Debbie Torres; grandchildren, Raymond Torres, Robert Torres, Danielle Torres, Marissa Aleman, Michael Aleman, Ariana Torres, Jackie Bracamontes, Phillip Bracamontes, and Matthew Liano; great-grandchildren, David Torres and Sophia Jurado; his sisters, Margaret Ureste, Inez Baltazar, Virginia Lopez and Mary Shimonek; his brothers, Fernando, Richard and Robert. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 9:00 pm on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Hillcrest Funeral Home-Carolina with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be at 11:30 am on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery.
