Surrounded by his loving family, Jerry R. Morin, 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 25, 2016. Jerry was born in Evansville, Texas on September 30, 1927, to Nicolas and Guadalupe Morin. Jerry had a passion for baseball and once pitched a 3-hitter for the Mitchell Eagles on May 27, 1947, according to the Nebraska Index. He was a Dodgers fan, although his most recent favorite player was David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox. Jerry is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 38 years, Lucy, whom he married in Mitchell, Nebraska on November 12, 1948. He is also preceded by three siblings, Helen Briceno, Sofia Sabala and Pete Morin, his son-in-law Ed Quinn and grandson Bo Cobb. A resident of El Paso since 1957, Jerry was a skilled hydraulics mechanic and foreman at Dave Hill and ended his career at Dietzgen Corporation. He loved music (learned to play guitar on his own) and loved to dance. He was a talented artist and craftsman. He could build or repair just about anything. Jerry also enjoyed serving as an usher for many years at San Antonio Catholic Church. He is survived by his brothers Manuel Morin, Willie Morin, Joe Morin and sister Lupe Cazlazos, his six children, Rose Mary Quinn, Phyllis Wells (Russel), Irma J. Valle (Tony), Cindy Devlin (Dennis), Jerry Anthony Morin (Kathy) and John Nicholas Morin (Patti); 20 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren -- all whom loved him dearly.We will miss his smile, wisdom, sense of humor and endless love. We were blessed to have two amazing parents and are happy that they are together again dancing in Heaven! Visitation will be held from 5-9pm on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 Carolina with vigil service at 7pm. Graveside Service will be held at 9am on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Interment to follow.
