Jarratt Schuster Harden (JaJa) died peacefully at her home on Saturday, December 12th at age 88. Born in El Paso, she attended Radford School for Girls and then Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and Finch College in New York City. She was a Sun Carnival Duchess for 1952-53. She was a member of the Junior League of El Paso, Providence Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, National Society of Arts and Letters, El Paso County Historical Society, and the El Paso Museum of Art. She also served on the boards of the Pan American Round Table (founded in El Paso by her grandmother) and the Cancer Society, as well as president of the Beautify El Paso Association. She volunteered her time to a great many causes, and loved to garden. While she was active, she attended the University Presbyterian Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Franklin Philip Schuster and Hallie Morton Schuster, as well as her brother, Dr. Franklin Philip Schuster, Jr. (Kiko) and her aunt, Isabel Morton Featherstone. She is
survived by four nephews, Franklin Philip Schuster III (TJ Patton), Jeffrey David Schuster (Pam), Jonathan Banks Schuster, and Paul Featherstone Schuster (Shannon). Other survivors are cousins R.A.D. Morton (Libby), Steven A.D. Schuster (Elodia), John Fremont Schuster, and Jeanie Swingle.
Interment will be at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery to be with her husband in peace, Daniel Coyle Harden. The celebration of life has not yet been scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://act.alz.org/donate.
