James Vincent Henneburg passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was born to James Vincent and Ria Henneburg in El Paso, Texas, on July 21, 1956, at William Beaumont Army Medical Center on Fort Bliss.
Vince attended St. Pius X School, where he excelled at baseball and basketball. At Jesuit and Burgess High Schools, he won several area competitions in debate and public speaking. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from The University of Texas at Austin and later earned his master’s degree in Licensed Professional Counseling from The University of Texas at El Paso.
Vince was a pillar in the El Paso mental health community, beginning his career in counseling alongside his good friend Armando Salas at Sun Towers Behavioral Center and Sun Valley Regional Hospital, before establishing his own private counseling practice. He served on the Consumer Advisory Committee of the Texas Commission for the Blind, contributing his expertise to improve services for individuals with visual impairments.
His unwavering commitment to helping those affected by substance and alcohol abuse, as well as domestic violence, provided hope and healing to many during their darkest of times. Through his counselling services, he worked with juveniles and adults, collaborating with agencies such as the Juvenile Probation Department, Child Protective Services, Foster Care, the Adult Probation Department, and the Department of Assistive Rehabilitative Services.
A proud Texan, Vince loved watching his beloved UT sports teams. However, his proudest moments came as a father to his son Gabriel, who brought him the greatest joy in life.
Vince is survived by his wife Cecilia; his son Gabriel and his wife Ariana Borja. Sibling’s: Frank and Sharon Henneburg, Sheila Henneburg, and Mary and Edward Sigmond.
Visitation will be held 6-9 p.m. on Friday, 19 July with a Rosary starting at 7 p.m. at Hillcrest Funeral Home West, 5054 Doniphan Drive, El Paso TX 79932.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, 20 July at 10 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 5750 Doniphan Drive, El Paso, TX 79932.
