Born January 20, 1930 in El Paso, Texas to Jessie Garcia Evers and Hexciquio Lopez. She attended Bowie High School. Excelling in sports, she loved playing softball and basketball. Competing in the first Pan American Olympic Games in Argentina, she won the javelin competition and met Juan and Eva Peron. She is a member of the El Paso Softball Hall of Fame and served as it's president in 1989. In Mexico she is honored in the Hall of Fame in Chihuahua and in Juarez in softball, basketball and track and field. She was a Class A bowler in El Paso for three decades. Preceded in death by her mother, Jessie Garcia Evers and brother, Sonny. Survived by her sisters Trainnie Montoya, (Daniel) Montoya and Beverly James. Nephews and nieces Danny, David, Estela, Ricky, Edna, Elva, Eddie, Gilbert and their spouses and children. Loved ones Angie, Julie, Emma and all her beloved cousins who filled the family circle of love, including dear friends Tonia and Charmaine who became family, plus family in Oklahoma. Pallbearers are nephews Danny, David, Ricky, Eddie, Gilbert and Fernie, Chris and Josh Rodriguez. Our dear Stretch, rest in peace. We will miss you and will cherish our wonderful memories of you forever.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 4, 2016 from 5-9:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West. With the Rosary at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 8:00 AM at St. Patricks Cathedral. Committal Service will follow at Memory Gardens of the Valley.
