Heraclio Sotelo Ugues, 74, passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022. Mr. Ugues was a longtime resident of El Paso and an active member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church since 1987. He was a graduate of Bowie High School and the University of Texas El Paso. Upon graduating from college, Mr. Ugues was employed with The Texas Youth Commission for 4 years. He then became self employed having opened Ace Roofing Company in 1979 and remained in business until 1988. Already having a degree in accounting, he decided to return to school to pursue a degree in education. He served as an elementary school teacher for 18 years. Among the schools at which he taught are Alamo Elementary School and J.M. Whitaker Elementary School. Mr. Ugues obtained his Master's Degree enabling him to serve as a counselor at Canutillo High School up until his retirement in 2009.
Mr. Ugues was preceded in death by his parents, Jesus Ugues and Paula Sotelo Ugues and brothers, Jesus and Javier Ugues. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ana Maria Ugues; sons, Ricardo Ugues and Marcos A. Ugues; daughters, Veronica P. Ugues-Rivera and Monica Ugues-Lopez; 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren with another on the way. Mr. Ugues is also survived by his brothers, Gerardo, Salvador, Antonio, and Evelio Ugues and sister, Oralia Lantz.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at FDA Evergreen East, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, TX 79938. Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, 3021 Frutas Ave., El Paso, TX 79905.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Guardian Angel Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at Evergreen East Cemetery.
