Jerry was born March 29, 1985, in El Paso, Texas, to Gerardo Serna Sr. and Yvonne DeHaro. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 2008-2012 and went on to graduate from culinary school to fulfill his goal of becoming a chef. His passion for cooking and sports, specifically his treasured Oakland/Las Vegas Raiders and NY Yankees, was surpassed only by his devotion to his family and friends. His unforgettable and infectious laugh will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Left to honor his beautiful memory are his devastated survivors. Jerry is survived by his parents, Gerardo Serna Sr. and Yvonne DeHaro; daughter Kaitlyn Serna; sisters Samantha Compton, Jenna Peña, Teresa Serna; brother Jacob Olivas; brother-in-law Clifton Compton; sister-in-law Laurie Peña; nieces Neriah, Braelynn and Maya Compton; his grandparents Roberto and Alicia DeHaro, and Jose Serna; as well as extended family and friends who loved him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Francisca G. Serna, Uncle Ernesto Serna, and Aunt Dolores Serna.

A visitation for Jerry will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2022 from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with a vigil service at 11:00 a.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Evergreen East Funeral Home & Cemetery, 12400 East Montana, El Paso, Texas 79938. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at La Purisima Catholic Church, 328 S. Nevarez Rd., Socorro, TX.
