Ernesto Zapién Jr. 96 year’s young, of Sunland Park, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at home on September 27, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Santa Barbara, Chihuahua on August 8, 1928. Ernesto lived a life defined by hard work, integrity and kindness. For over decades he tended to his carpentry with passion and diligence, as well as his hard work for the Gadsden Independent School District as a custodian. He retired after 25 years of dedicated service.
He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength and dedication to hard work that will continue to inspire his family for generations to come. Ernesto is preceded in death by his loving wife Emilia Diaz Zapién and will be joining her in glory after sixty-eight years of marriage. He is survived by his loving sons Rogelio (Pecky), Benjamin René (Ramona), Ernesto III (Sylvia), and Gilberto (Rebecca) Zapién. His daughters Marisela McDaniel (Gregorio Ortiz), Patricia Ramiréz (Darío), Sonia Zapién (Bill Dominik), and Nancy Zapién Marrufo (Edward R.). Also, his loving Grand Children, Great Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren. As well as his three siblings Concepción, Socorro, and Jose “Pepe” Zapién.
Pallbearers will be Ernesto Zapién IV, Benjamin René Zapien Jr., Mario Alonzo Zapién, Victor Ramírez, Jacob Ramírez, Arturo Payan, Gabriel Payan, Steven Zapién & Michael Zapién.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM with Rosary to be recited at 6:00 PM at Martin Funeral Home West, 128 N. Resler Dr., El Paso, TX 79912.
Funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 11, 2023, at 10:00 AM at San Martin de Porres Church, 1885 McNutt Rd, Sunland Park, NM 88063. Graveside Service will follow at 11:30 AM at Memory Gardens of the Valley, 4900 McNutt Rd, Santa Teresa, NM 88008.
