Enrique Marquez was survived in life by his loving wife of 69 years Julieta A Marquez aged 91. His children in order of birth as followed: Enrique Marquez Jr (married to Maria L, children are Enrique III, Isaiah, Amaris (deceased), Israel, Angell, Abrahm, and Damiana along with 10 great grandchildren.) Arturo Marquez (deceased) (widow Sylvia and son Arturo Emilio) Esther Romero with son Arturo Jr with great grandchild and daughter Amanda, Estella Rodriguez (married to Pedro Jr with sons Pedro III and Andy) David Marquez (deceased) with daughters Star with two great grandchildren and Sarah.
Enrique Marquez was a veteran of the US Army who served honorably with extended service for several years in the US Army Reserve being honorably discharged. From the poverty and strife in the streets of Mexico City, Enrique worked from the age of five until his mother Lorenza brought him to the United States at the age of 13. Working while he received an education he then served in the military. After his service he began as a helper in an electric shop where he learned and mastered his knowledge of electrical work and subsequently acquired employment as an electrician in the electric shop of ASARCO. Furthering his education, as he worked, through the Devry Institute of Technology achieving an associates equivalency in electronics technology and national certification. His extensive knowledge of electronics and electrical theory along with an outstanding work ethic prompted his employers to promote him to managerial status as head of the instrumentation and electric shops. He was the first hispanic to ever reach such a high position in over 130 years of ASARCO history. With great reluctance, ASARCO accepted his eventual retirement in an executive level retirement celebration including all the corporate head
Enrique Marquez was the head of a loving family with a loving wife , his five children, his 13 grandchildren, and his 13 great grandchildren who have all adored this giant of a man whose hard work, honesty, strong faith, and outstanding moral character are our family legacy.
Viewing visitations will be May 7 at Hillcrest Funeral Home 1060 N Carolina from 5 to 9 pm with a rosary at 7pm
Funeral mass will be May 8 at San Antonio Catholic Church 503 Hunter Dr at 11:30 am
Graveside services and burial will be held on May 8 following mass at Fort Bliss National Cemetery starting at 1 pm
