Elizabeth H Gillett

she attended Dudley School, Mesita School, and El Paso High School. She attended Mary Baldwin College and graduated from Texas Western College (UTEP) in 1963.

She was a proud member of the Junior League of El Paso, chairing the first Christmas Fair.

A tennis buff, she was a member of El Paso Tennis Club, Tennis West, and The Anthony Country Club. She and Ron owned Dos Lagos Golf Course of Anthony for 29 years.

Liz is preceded in death by her parents, Allen Harrison Hughey, Jr. and Marjorie Meyer Hughey, her sisters, Virginia Hughey, Christie and Marjorie Harrison Hughey. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Ron E. Gillett, her sons, Ron E. Gillett, Jr. (Jodi), and Harrison H. Gillett, cousins Sandra Hoover and Jonathan D. Schwartz (Jody), and brother- in- law John T. Kelly, sister-in-law Margie Gillett Kelly as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a great wife, loving mother, sister aunt and friend.

The family would like to thank Mesilla Valley Hospice for all their help in Liz’s final days. Pallbearers will be Max Prestridge, Jonathan D. Schwartz III, Bryan Kelley, Stephen Banta, Miguel Navarrete and Dan Lozano. Graveside services will be held July 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Restlawn Cemetery 4848 Alps. The family asks in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to a favorite charity.
