EL PASO - Daniel Floyd Wever, aged 86, passed away on November 27, 2024, in El Paso, Texas. Born on March 6, 1938, Daniel, affectionately known as Dan, lived a life marked by humor, kindness, and a deep love for his family and friends. A true El Pasoan, Dan attended Alta Vista primary school, graduated from Austin High School in 1956, and furthered his education at Texas Western. Dan’s career was diverse and impactful, starting at AT&T where he was a systems analyst, and was notably the first person in El Paso sent out of town for computer training. He retired in 1990, but his passion for challenges saw him become a successful Thoroughbred horse trainer and a diligent EPISD Board President, where he worked tirelessly to ensure financial transparency. Dan’s service in the Air Force was characterized by his typical humor; he often joked that he was primarily playing tennis for them, despite being trained in communications. His military stint was just another chapter in a life filled with diverse interests and accomplishments, including being a state champion in both tennis and bowling. Dan was a family man, deeply loved by his wife of 61 years, Frances McNabb Wever, whom he married on January 25, 1963. He was a cherished father to Danna Suresh (Vik) and their children, Allison, William and Maya. John Wever (Vivi), and their children Blaine and Annika and Kelly Wever Alvarado (Marty), and their children Steele, Raven and Ireland. His sister Jonnalou Carvajal, nieces Danyse and Leannette, and his beloved German Shepard, Zenyatta, also survive him. Dan’s hobbies and interests were as colorful as his personality. He was an avid fan of horse racing and enjoyed following the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Guardians, despite the former’s performance woes. Known for his great sense of humor, he found joy in engaging with spam callers daily, turning a nuisance into a source of laughter. His days were brightened by the achievements and stories of his grandchildren, whom he adored immensely. In accordance with his wishes, no services will be held. Dan’s memory will be cherished by the many lives he touched with his humor,
love, and dedication. He is preceded in death by many beloved family members and friends, and it is comforting to imagine the joyful reunion he is having with them now.
